Inspiring Futures, is funded by the state of North Carolina and the United Way of Forsyth County, and seeks to provide mentors to youth who have been involved or are at great risk of becoming involved with the juvenile court system. The reasons why these youth become involved with the court system vary: peer pressure, home environment, etc. These children are not bad children they have just made poor choices because they did not have a positive influence to help them navigate their way through adolescence. Many of these youth, with the right guidance could be doctors, lawyers, community leaders, teacher – whatever they aspire to be, with the right inspiration. That is why we are seeking the assistance of Wake Forest University students to help these youth make the right choices. We are currently seeking to recruit 10 to 15 individuals to serve as mentors. The volunteers are expected to spend only 2 hours a week mentoring.
